EAS & RFID Retail Security

EAS anti-theft and RFID systems for retail in Oman

Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) protects shop entrances with antennas that alarm when an active tag or label passes. RFID adds item-level identification for stock counts, inventory visibility and faster checkout. The two can run together at the same entrance.

What's included

What we cover

  • Entrance survey

Measure entrance width, floor construction, nearby metal and electrical noise, and power routes before choosing antenna model and spacing.

  • AM or RF technology

Choose acousto-magnetic (AM) or radio-frequency (RF) based on product mix, labels already in use and required detection width. The whole store must use one matching technology.

  • Tags, labels and checkout

Match hard tags and soft labels to each product type, and place deactivators and detachers so billing stays fast.

  • RFID workflows

Readers, antennas and labels for stock counting, replenishment and item visibility, linked to your POS or inventory software where supported.

  • Testing and staff handover

Detection testing across the full entrance and short training for checkout staff.

FAQ

Common questions

What is the difference between AM and RF EAS?

AM (58 kHz) systems generally detect across wider aisles and are less affected by metal and foil packaging. RF (8.2 MHz) labels are typically lower cost. Tags and antennas must use the same technology.

Can EAS and RFID share one antenna?

Some antenna models combine AM EAS with UHF RFID in one pedestal. Whether that suits your store depends on the entrance and the software you plan to use.

Why do labels sometimes alarm after purchase?

Usually because the label was not deactivated, or was deactivated outside the pad’s range. Deactivator placement and staff routine fix most cases.
